SUSTAINABILITY
Safe, Nutritious, Sustainable Food Production
Integrated Proteins™ plays an important role in creating a sustainable food supply for both animals and humans. How? After an animal is harvested for human consumption, Integrated Proteins™ takes the by-products and render them into safe, nutritious, quality ingredients for pet food.
Using 100% of the harvested animal not only reduces food costs and contributes to more sustainable food production, but it also prevents animal by-products from ending up in the landfill. With the relatively high environmental impact of raising animals for food, using the entire animal makes meat production far more viable in the long term — and a provides a more sustainable food source for the future.
Fact: Rendered meals make up 40%-60% of most finished kibble for cats and dogs. While it is possible to use other sources of protein in pet food — like vegetables or legumes — it’s not currently economical. Without rendered animal products, the cost to manufacture kibble would increase drastically, and the supply of animal proteins would decrease. This could lead to competition between humans and animals for protein.
